The Lamentation; done by Giotto, an Italian architect and artisit who broke away from Byzantine art and created a more natural, emotional style of painting. I love the way he depicts not only angels, but people also to have something that looks like glowing crowns of glory. That has always been one of my faviorite aspects, also the way he puts emotion into it. I have had the idea for a while to make an angel doll that has a glowing crown with mosiac butterfly wings, maybe someday. I like a lot of the religious art from this time period b/c of the emotion and the way it more realistically portrays Christ's life. I think I really admire Giotto and his works because he was such a strong perosn that paved his own way and then others followed.
